[ Getting Started ]

Choosing a Design:

Firstly, you want to be sure you have made a little note of what size, colour and direction you would like your portrait to be completed in.

Have a browse of our website and choose from The Colour Pops, The Neutrals or The Monoprints.

Select the size that you would like your portrait to be.

Once you have chosen these. You are ready to take your photograph for the portrait.

Remember to include any other information or edits you would like. Please complete the order form with this information otherwise orders cannot be completed.

Taking Your Photograph:

Things to consider when taking the photograph for your portrait:

Hair - We all know a child rarely keeps perfectly styled hair for long, so don't worry too much about stray hairs because this often helps to show their personality. Although hair is very personal to each portrait, long hair often looks better tied up off the neck as it creates a more defined silhouette.

Angle - To capture the perfect portrait picture, there are a few things to remember about angles:

  • Take the picture at the height of the sitter's shoulder. This will ensure that the portrait is balanced and a true representation of their face.

  • Capture the sitter whilst they are looking directly forward. If they struggle sitting still then it often helps if they are engaged with something, such as television, or another adult pulling silly faces.

Final Things to Remember:

  • Background - Ideally the background will be plain and simple to help us to differentiate between your little person and their surroundings.

  • Send photographs that are as high resolution as possible - up to 3 photographs may be sent, if you feel that this would help capture the sitter’s personality.  You may also find this beneficial if your little people or four-legged friends are not the type to stand nor sit still..

  • Please supply individual photographs of each sitter. Each photograph is looked at with care and attention to try and capture the personality of each individual.

  • If you wish for the photograph to be flipped in a different direction from that of the photo, then this can be easily arranged.

Remember, if you love this photograph enough to take it, keep it and look at it, then there's no reason why you shouldn't be happy with the final silhouette.
